Debunking the emergency care crisis

Over the last few months, you will have been aware of media reports of the crisis in emergency care in the UK.

Our A&E departments have undoubtedly been under pressure and there have been lots of theories put forward about what might have caused the problem. Increasing numbers of patients, lack of access to out-of-hours GP services and staff shortages have all been blamed, but if you look at the figures, you'll find that none of these theories are valid.
