There is a growing need for clinicians to understand the logistics of running and maintaining a team or department within the NHS, especially with the ever-increasing financial strains that will continue to affect us and the Government's wish to have more input from the medical fraternity. This requires current and future generations to become more adept with management standards and ideals, learnt from NHS, and importantly, non-NHS leaders as well as the practical experience of being immersed in such roles.
The LDfA aims to provide these skills to our own speciality of Anaesthetics initially using the likes of shadowing schemes, presentation evenings and an official curriculum
